Haiti Update

Last night I was able to speak with our SMART team as they were assembled at our compound in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Yesterday they purchased some $3,000.00 worth of basic food items and water which were loaded into a 30 passenger bus for land transport to Haiti.

There is a man in the church there who is a government official and he has taken care of the border crossing for them. Thank the Lord! This morning at 7:26 they text me to say they were departing for Haiti.

As always, let’s keep them in our prayers. The news is reporting that because of the desperate situation there are gangs attacking the convoys for food. On a good day Haiti is pretty wild and I cannot imagine what it must be like now.

This morning we sent several Med-Packs and boxes of medical supplies to Med Express in Alexandria, LA for shipment to Haiti next week. A big thank you to Cherry Air and Med Express for making this happen!

In the coming weeks we will send medical teams and probably construction teams to Haiti. If you are interested in participating in these trips, please monitor our website at www.compassionservices.org for upcoming information there.

Compassion Services Drive

Dear Friends:

Heavenview will immediately begin collecting and donating funds to Compassion Services International in response to the earthquake yesterday. Please pray and please give what you can to assist the nation of Haiti during this crisis. All of us have several ways that we invest in the work of the Lord through Heavenview (Tithes, Faith Promise Missions, Christmas For Christ, Serving Our Generation, Building Fund, Benevolence, Homeless Clothing Drive and other giving commitments). Although your commitment to these existing needs is essential, anything extra you can invest in Haiti through Compassion Services International will be a great blessing at this time.

If you choose to give through Heavenview, please mark your check payable to Heavenview and designate your offering for Haiti or Compassion Services International (CSI). If you choose to give directly through CSI, please use this link.

Thanks very much for your prayers and for your generous response to this urgent request.

Blessings,
Pastor Linder

Love Your Neighbor Day 2010

The results are coming in:

"Our family made cookies for our neighbors. We connected with 3 families. We told them we hoped they were having a good new year. On the plate we wrote that we were praying for them.

This was something that we needed to do. We were glad to do this - to show the Love of God in a dark and busy world!

Love,
The Lee Family"

**

Pastor Dan and Christie took their favorite beef stew to their neighbors to help them stay warm during this cold weather.

It is NEVER EASY stepping out of our comfort zone, but they were so glad they did!

**

I visited my co-worker's father at hospice today to show the love of God in a practical way. I took a basket of snacks and puzzle books for the family. I was able to meet a few other members of the family and made a positive impression on them for Christ.
