July Volunteer Update for service at The Ronald McDonald House

Hello Ronald McDonald House Supporters,

I hope you all enjoyed a fun July 4th holiday weekend!

The 4th always reminds me of how blessed we are to be Americans. One of the many freedoms Americans exercise is their ability to help others. We are so thankful to all of you who continue to help us serve families coming to our town for medical care for their children. We wouldn’t be here without your generosity. Donors and volunteers like you make us all proud to call the USA our home!

This month our top 5 needs are:
1 – Paper towels – we are almost out!
2 – Single serving sweets (ex. Little Debbie cakes, cookies, etc.)
3 – Items for breakfast (pop tarts, cereal bars, oatmeal, etc.)
4 – Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and salad dressings
5 – Cups (12 oz. or larger) and plastic spoons

Family Room Volunteer Opportunities:
As many of you know, we have Family Room programs at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center.

The Family Rooms opened to extend the services offered at the House to all families with children in the pediatric units. We have volunteer opportunities available in both rooms. Volunteers cover 3 hours shifts from 9am to 9pm 7 days a week.

We are looking especially for individuals who would be free to volunteer on Sundays in the Forsyth Family Room. For more information, please contact Judy Sangimino, Family Room Coordinator, at 336.723.0228 x39 or JudyS@rmhwinstonsalem.org.

Family Support Program Volunteer Opportunities:
Calling All Bingo Volunteers!

Once a month on Monday nights, would you or someone you know like to:
1) play a combination of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?
2) see the smiles and hear the laughter of stressed families relaxing?
3) help our families reach out and connect with one another?

If you or someone you know who is at least 21 years-old is interested in becoming a Bingo volunteer one Monday night per month from 5:30-6:30pm at the Ronald McDonald House, please contact Chacy at ChacyS@rmhwinstonsalem.org or 723.0228 ext 20.

Meal Volunteer Opportunities:
Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House love coming back to the House after a long day at the hospital to find a prepared meal waiting for them. They are relieved to know they don’t have to spend extra time cooking. Instead, they can spend that extra time with their children. Meals are provided by generous donors. If you or your group is interested in helping with meals, please contact our Meals Coordinator, Ginny Hunter at 725.3855.
